Marathon 5 - Washington DC Story*Training*Injury*Schedule*Spectators*Statistics

The only negative about this was the runners bag pickup post race. Everything else was great!

I had thought that this was going to be a rip-off of the Marine Corps Marathon, but the only overlap was the mall area. This run took us thru all 4 quadrants of the city -- area I wouldn't normally go into.

Bad cramps starting at 22, made the last few miles torture.

Note: 2003 saw H20 productions cancel the DC Marathon. This moronic decision, said to be for runner's safety due to the GW-II, was done with no notice, no refunds, and no city/state/government prompting. The belief was that H2-zero was going to lose money by running it. The race was held nonetheless, put together by local running clubs and volunteers (I was at 21.5 with Advil, Succeed, Vaseline, and Life-savers. But I digress). The DC mayor promised a law-suit if runners' entry fees ($85) were not returned. We'll see.

Regardless of the outcome, I will not run in, nor support an H2-zero sponsored race, and urge you not to.

There are thousands of marathons out there, and the MD/DC/VA running clubs will put one on in DC.
